Harvey Weinstein’s Estranged Wife Georgina Chapman Speaks Out For First Time: ‘I Was So Humiliated And So Broken’

News

Georgina Chapman is speaking for the first time about life since the story about her estranged husband Harvey Weinstein’s alleged sexual misconduct emerged.

The 42-year-old designer and actress spoke to Vogue about how she has dealt with the fallout from the accusations against Weinstein by tens of women in Hollywood of sexual harassment and assault.

Chapman said she hasn’t been out publicly since the news broke in October 2017.

“I was so humiliated and so broken . . . that . . . I, I, I . . . didn’t think it was respectful to go out,” she said. “I thought, Who am I to be parading around with all of this going on? It’s still so very, very raw. I was walking up the stairs the other day and I stopped; it was like all the air had been punched out of my lungs.”

“I lost ten pounds in five days. I couldn’t keep food down,” she said of the days after the stories in The New York Times and The New Yorker dropped.

“My head was spinning,” Chapman recalled. “And it was difficult because the first article was about a time long before I’d ever met him, so there was a minute where I couldn’t make an informed decision. And then the stories expanded and I realized that this wasn’t an isolated incident. And I knew that I needed to step away and take the kids out of here.”

Chapman maintained she is not looking for sympathy in her situation. “I don’t want to be viewed as a victim,” she explained, “because I don’t think I am. I am a woman in a s**t situation, but it’s not unique.”

She also described her marriage as a happy one and that she was “absolutely not” suspicious about his behaviour, particularly because his work had him travelling a lot as is. “And I’ve never been one of those people who obsesses about where someone is.”

As for her plans now, Chapman said she is focused on her label. She also put a bid on a house on a farm in upstate New York.

“As soon as this happened, I had this crazy vision: I know what I need to do. I need to move to a farm upstate,” she explained. “My daughter loves riding; my son responds to animals. I need to build a farm.”

On “toxic” movie set Johnny Depp attacked a location manager after drinking all day — Peace and Freedom

An out-of-control Johnny Depp attacked a location manager on the set of his upcoming film, “LAbyrinth,” multiple sources told Page Six. The spat even included Depp attempting a punch and bellowing at the veteran production pro, “I’ll give you $100,000 to punch me right now!” before he was pulled off.

“LAbyrinth” stars Depp as the real LAPD detective Russell Poole, who investigated the murder of Biggie Smalls. But an insider said trouble on the “toxic” set began when Depp took over directing a scene in which he cast two of his pals as a cop and a homeless man. “Johnny’s friends were in the scene, and it just turned into way more than it should have been,” said a source. A downtown LA street was closed off, but when the permit ran out, Depp wanted to keep the cameras rolling.

“The producers kept asking for the time to be extended,” explained a source familiar with the production. Finally, a location manager informed the film’s director, Brad Furman, that the scene had to wrap, but, “Brad interjected, ‘Tell that to Johnny Depp!’ ” The location manager told Depp, “This is the last shot,” a source said, when an irate Depp — who’d been “smoking and drinking all day on set” — got in the staffer’s face. “He was 6 inches away, yelling, ‘Who are you? You have no right!’ ” sources said.

When the well-liked worker told Depp, “I’m just doing my job,” a source said Depp tried to punch him in the ribs. But the weak blow didn’t make an impact, and Depp yelled, “I’ll give you $100,000 to punch me right now!” The stunned staffer stood still, and Depp was finally pulled away.

A rep for Depp had no comment. Furman insisted the alleged incident was overblown. “Johnny Depp is a consummate professional, great collaborator and a supporter of other artists,” he said in a statement. “He always treats the crew and people around him with the utmost respect. Movies can be stressful, and nonevents often become exaggerated. We all love stories — there isn’t one here.”

Separately, Depp’s being sued by two former guards, Page Six reported, and is in a legal war with his former managers.

Johnny Depp: how Hollywood’s biggest star fell from grace

As another lawsuit hits the actor, accusing him of creating a ‘toxic’ work environment, his status as the industry’s most wanted leading man shows no sign of returning

The descriptions sound like a typical day at sea for Captain Jack Sparrow: “volatile”, “reckless”, “vices”, “chaos”, “hurricane”.

The Pirates of the Caribbean character is, after all, a drunken pirate who sails through fiascos and misadventures.

It is Johnny Depp, however, not Sparrow, who is accused of presiding over such mayhem in a drama playing out not on screen but in court.

Two bodyguards made the allegations in a lawsuit this week which piled fresh acrimony on Depp’s reputation, renewing doubts over his future as Hollywood’s quirkiest and possibly most beloved leading man.

The multi-claim lawsuit over unpaid wages and working conditions detailed a lifestyle of dysfunction and chaos.

Eugene Arreola and Miguel Sanchez alleged that a “financial hurricane” and a “toxic” environment enveloped Depp’s Hollywood Hills compound from 2016.

The suit alleges: “Often times plaintiffs were forced to protect Depp from himself and his vices while in public. An incident at a local nightclub involved plaintiffs alerting Depp of illegal substances visible on his face and person while preventing onlookers from noticing Depp’s condition.”

More damning allegations can be expected if the ex-employees obtain a jury trial in Los Angeles superior court. Depp’s representatives did not respond to a request for comment over the latest allegations.

It is a puzzle straight out of Hollywood Babylon: how can a star who has reputedly earned more than $650m struggle to pay his bills?

The question may be better addressed to psychologists than accountants. The money is not missing. Depp, 54, spent it. Even Captain Sparrow might wince at such excess.

Profligacy barely counts as vice in Hollywood but Depp’s epic expenditure – in addition to fast cars and planes he bought a French village, a $22m yacht and a string of Caribbean islands while allegedly blowing through $2m a month, including $30,000 a month on wine – rivals that of the castle-collecting Nicholas Cage.

In recent years this has led to Depp clashing with, firing and suing a rotating retinue of managers and lawyers, who in turn have sued him over allegedly broken contracts and unpaid fees, draining more funds from the Depp treasure chest and dumping more revelations about his private life overboard into the public maw.

Financial troubles alone would not necessarily dent the mystique of an actor who stole teenage hearts in 21 Jump Street, then stole adult hearts in Cry-Baby, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Edward Scissorhands, Chocolat and the Pirates franchise.

Droll charm and offbeat roles in films like Corpse Bride and Sweeney Todd cemented an image of a rogueish misfit who tripped into stardom and ended up dating Winona Ryder, Kate Moss and Vanessa Paradis.

Bizarre episodes like firing the ashes of Hunter S Thompson from a cannon (cost: $3m) and smuggling his Yorkshire terriers Pistol and Boo into Australia only burnished the kooky vibe. The glow survived even commercial and critical duds like The Lone Ranger and The Tourist – box office analysts said he was overpaid – and fatigue with Pirates sequels.

From 2016 the picture darkened.

Amber Heard filed for divorce and obtained a temporary restraining order, alleging physical and verbal abuse. A leaked video showed him raging in their kitchen.

The couple settled their divorce in a $7m deal and issued a joint statement saying their relationship was “intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love”.

Warner Bros and JK Rowling have stuck with Depp for Fantastic Beasts, sparing him banishment to the ranks of #MeToo blackguards. “The film-makers and I are not only comfortable sticking with our original casting, but genuinely happy to have Johnny playing a major character in the movies,” Rowling said in a statement.

But in a climate where actors such as Kevin Spacey and Kian Lawley are being replaced after misconduct, some observers worry about the long-lasting effect of his role.

Forbes’ Scott Mendelson suggests that his place in the film “will poison the entire franchise’s legacy” while Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, has said they he can “see why people are frustrated” with the situation.

Depp’s career – and bank balance – will partly hinge on whether Disney gives Captain Sparrow a sixth Pirates film (the last outing was a disappointment domestically but made $794m worldwide). But with each controversy, will audiences still turn up to watch him?

Actress Ashley Judd has sued Harvey Weinstein, alleging the disgraced former film executive made inflammatory statements about her that hurt her career, according to court documents obtained by CNN.

Judd’s suit alleges that Weinstein deterred director Peter Jackson, who oversaw the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, and his producing partner Fran Walsh from working with Judd on the films, a move that not only “torpedoed” her opportunity to star in the Academy Award-winning franchise but also cost her additional work.

She claims to have met with Jackson and Walsh in or around 1998 to discuss two different roles in the film, but the pair “dropped their pursuit” of her for the project after Weinstein told them the studio had “a bad experience” working with Judd, according to the lawsuit.

“The pathetic reality, however, was that Weinstein was retaliating against Ms. Judd for rejecting his sexual demands approximately one year earlier, when he cornered her in a hotel room under the guise of discussing business,” the suit states.

Jackson first revealed Weinstein’s comments in an interview back in December 2017, months after Weinstein began facing a host of allegations.

To date, the allegations against Weinstein range from harassment to rape, include the stories of more than 80 women and span several decades.

Through a spokesperson, Weinstein, who co-founded Miramax and the Weinstein Company, has repeatedly denied “any allegations of non-consensual sex.”

A representative for Weinstein also denied the allegations that he smeared Judd’s name.

“The most basic investigation of the facts will reveal that Mr. Weinstein neither defamed Ms. Judd nor ever interfered with Ms. Judd’s career, and instead not only championed her work but also repeatedly approved her casting for two of his movies over the next decade,” said a statement from Weinstein’s attorney, obtained by CNN.

Judd starred in “Frida,” which was distributed by Miramax in 2002, and “Crossing Over,” which was distributed by The Weinstein Company, in 2009.

The statement from Weinstein’s attorney also claims he “fought for Ms. Judd as his first choice for the lead role in ‘Good Will Hunting’ and, in fact, arranged for Ms. Judd to fly to New York to be considered for the role.”

Actress Minnie Driver was eventually cast in the role.

“We look forward to a vigorous defense of these claims,” Weinstein’s statement added.

Peter Jackson: I was told Judd was a ‘nightmare’ to work with
Jackson first made statements indicating Weinstein had deterred him from working with Judd in a December interview with New Zealand news website Stuff.

“I recall Miramax telling us they were a nightmare to work with and we should avoid them at all costs. This was probably in 1998,” Jackson told the site, referring to Judd and Mira Sorvino.

Judd and Sorvino were among the first women to come forward with allegations of sexual harassment against Weinstein back in October 2017.

Weinstein denied the allegations at the time.

“Mr. Weinstein has nothing but the utmost respect for Peter Jackson. However, as Mr. Jackson will probably remember, because Disney would not finance the ‘Lord of the Rings,’ Miramax lost the project and all casting was done by New Line,” a statement said.

Upon reports of Jackson’s remarks, Judd tweeted her recollection of the meeting with Jackson and Walsh.

“Peter & Fran had me in — showed me all the creative, the boards, costumes, everything. They asked which if the two roles I preferred, and then I abruptly never heard from [them] again,” she wrote in December. “I appreciate the truth coming out. Thank you, Peter.”

Sorvino also responded to Jackson’s comments, calling it “confirmation that Harvey Weinstein derailed my career, something I suspected but was unsure.”

“Thank you Peter Jackson for being honest,” she tweeted. “I’m just heartsick.”

Judd is seeking monetary damages and restitution.

“No person — in whatever job, in whatever industry — should have to forfeit professional aspirations and the right to earn a living to the abusive whims of the powerful,” Judd’s suit says. “Ms. Judd brings this complaint to vindicate that principle, and to right the wrongs that Weinstein committed against her, among so many others.”

CNN has reached out to Judd’s representative for additional comment on this story.

Carrie Underwood is getting back to doing the things that she loves, which includes cheering on her hockey player husband, Mike Fisher.

The 35-year-old “Cry Pretty” singer shared a new picture of herself on Instagram on Friday. In the cute pic, Underwood is wearing a Nashville Predators black-and-gold shirt and baseball cap as she holds up her hand and makes fangs with her fingers. Her blonde locks are curled and she’s rocking a dark smoky eye, pink blush and a nude lip.

“Ready to cheer on the boys tonight! Especially that #12! I hear he’s alright! 😘 @mfisher1212 @predsnhl #LetsGoPreds,” the country superstar wrote alongside the selfie. Fisher’s Predators are leading the Colorado Avalanche three games to one in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Last Sunday, the American Idol alum made her first public appearance, performing her latest single at the ACM Awards. And earlier this week, Underwood had one of her first interviews since undergoing surgery for a broken wrist and having 40 to 50 stitches on her face after taking a tumble outside her home in Nashville last November.

The blonde beauty opened up about the incident and how she has been recovering.

“I’ve been very fortunate in the healing process,” Underwood explained. “I was lucky that when it happened, everything was kind of shutting down in the music world and we had the holidays and stuff like that. But I was at a point where I didn’t know how things were going to end up. I didn’t know what was going to go on and didn’t know what it was going to heal like.”

“[I was injured] around my mouth,” she added. “You just don’t know how things are going to heal or end up.”

Justin Bieber’s Ex Chantel Jeffries Looks Just Like Kim Kardashian — With Kylie Jenner Lips

News

Chantel Jeffries gained notoriety when she dated Justin Bieber four years ago, but now she’s starting to look like a clone of Kim Kardashian, so she probably would have eventually been noticed all on her own. To be honest, the resemblance is uncanny! On Wednesday, April 18, Chantel, 24, took to Instagram a posted a portrait of herself, during which she looked like the twin of Mrs. Kanye West. Heck, she’s even sporting some Kylie Jenner-level lips. If we didn’t know any better, we’d think she was related to the Kardashians. Could Chantel be watching Kim’s makeup tutorials?

Not only is Chantel wearing her dark hair with soft waves and part down the middle — just as Kim has in the past (see the pics below) — but her makeup is also identical to the mom of three’s. Just take a look at her “heavily lined eyebrows, brown eye shadow, black eyeliner, very long lashes, heavy contouring and beige/nude lipstick,” as Daily Mail pointed out in their own comparison. And that black tank with spaghetti straps that she’s wearing? It’s super similar to one Kim has worn in the past as well. Again, take a look at the pics below!

Some people may accuse her of being a poser, but the look seems to be working for Chantel. In fact, she has been modeling for Khloe‘s clothing line Good American. She even revealed that Khloe is her denim goals. “She is the mother of our Good Squad,” Chantel said during an interview with the denim brand.

‘You grab on to the tornado that is Jim Carrey and you hang on’

Outside of painting elaborate caricatures of politicians, Jim Carrey has been quiet of late, far removed from the stunts that made him a sought-after guest on late night talkshows.

But his recent run of seclusion didn’t stop him from visiting the set of Conanon Tuesday when his friend and Dumb & Dumber co-star Jeff Daniels made an appearance to promote his new series, The Looming Tower.

O’Brien and Daniels happened to be discussing the movie when the camera cut to a leather-jacketed Carrey in sunglasses walking on stage, and bounding into a previously stoic Daniels’ arms.

“I wanted to come out here and say it in front of the world: You’re in town and you don’t call me?!” Carrey said to Daniels. “Not an email, nothing!

“When I saw him, there was a tingling in my groin and that’s the sign,” Carrey said with a smile. “That’s when I know I’m with the right person.”

They went on to discuss the movie and the critics who savaged the 2014 sequel, with Daniels proclaiming, “F–k them!”

Carrey went on to rave about Daniels: “I love being around him. I’ve been watching your press, and I watch everything he does. The most versatile actor working today. Unbelievable, the things he does, and I especially enjoy watching you do interviews because I know you love ’em and especially the parts where you talk about how working with me changed the course of your life.”

Daniels gushed back, “You grab on to the tornado that is Jim Carrey and you hang on, and it was such a joy.”

A true bromance.

Judge rules jury can hear Bill Cosby’s Quaalude testimony

Judge rules jury can hear Bill Cosby’s quaalude testimony

Andrea Constand arrives to resume her testimony during Bill Cosby’s sexual assault retrial at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown, Pa., Monday, April 16, 2018.Dominick Reuter / AP

NORRISTOWN, Pa. — The jury at Bill Cosby’s sexual assault trial can hear his decade-old testimony about giving quaaludes to women before sex, a judge ruled Tuesday, handing the prosecution a key victory in its effort to portray the comedian as a serial predator.

Judge Steven O’Neill said prosecutors can have the “Cosby Show” star’s deposition testimony read into the record.

Cosby, 80, is on trial on charges he drugged and molested former Temple University basketball administrator Andrea Constand at his suburban Philadelphia mansion in 2004. The deposition was also included at his first trial, which ended with a hung jury last year.

Prosecutors used another of Cosby’s statements — this one to police — to show how he described the encounter with Constand in 2005.

Cosby said he gave Constand 1 1/2 tablets of the cold and allergy medicine Benadryl to help her relax, then fondled her breasts and genitals, according to the transcript, which was read to the jury Tuesday morning.

Cosby said Constand never told him to stop.

“We are petting. I enjoyed it,” the TV star said, according to the transcript. “And then I stopped and I went up to bed. We stopped and then we talked.”

Constand says Cosby knocked her out with the pills and then sexually assaulted her, penetrating her with his fingers and guiding her hand to his penis. Cosby told police he didn’t remember whether Constand touched his genitals.

The jury was expected to hear later about Cosby’s acknowledged use of quaaludes, a popular party drug in the 1970s that was banned in the U.S. in 1982, to help get women to have sex with him.

Testifying under oath in 2005 as part of Constand’s civil suit against him, Cosby said he had obtained several prescriptions for quaaludes from his doctor in Los Angeles in the 1970s, ostensibly for a sore back. The long-married comedian said he never took the drug, instead giving it to women he wanted to have sex with “the same as a person would say, ‘Have a drink.”‘

“Quaaludes happen to be the drug that kids, young people were using to party with, and there were times when I wanted to have them just in case,” Cosby testified.

The comic ultimately settled Constand’s lawsuit for nearly $3.4 million.

Cosby’s lawyers argued the testimony is irrelevant to his retrial because there is no evidence he gave Constand the drug. Prosecutors have suggested otherwise.

The unsealing of the deposition, at the request of The Associated Press, led prosecutors to reopen Cosby’s criminal case in 2015.

A police sergeant who investigated Constand’s allegation a decade earlier testified Tuesday that the probe was abruptly shut down before police had finished their work.

Cheltenham Township Police Sgt. Richard Schaffer told jurors that then-District Attorney Bruce Castor announced he was closing the probe hours after investigators met to discuss leads that needed to be followed up — and just four weeks after Constand went to police. Castor has said the evidence showed both parties “could be held in less than a flattering light.”

On Monday, Constand rejected defence allegations that she concocted her story to score a big payday, and her mother testified that Cosby apologized in a phone call and called himself a “sick man.”

Andrea and Gianna Constand’s testimony followed that of five additional accusers who told jurors that Cosby had drugged and assaulted them two decades earlier.

As Cosby arrived at the courthouse Tuesday, his spokeswoman Ebonee Benson told reporters that the Constands’ testimony “seemed to be more colorful and more embellished” than at the first trial.

‘Night Court’ star John Larroquette is ‘heartsick’ over Harry Anderson; stars pay tribute by Bryan Alexander

John Larroquette summed up his feelings about the loss of fellow Night Courtstar Harry Anderson in one word Monday.

“Heartsick,” Larroquette tweeted. Late that night, he added, “He was wicked smart. He was wicked funny. He had a big laugh. He had a big heart. He delighted in legerdemain especially when he caused someone to scratch their head and proclaim; How the h— did you do that? And he could eat a hamster like no one I ever knew.”

Anderson, 65, was found dead in his North Carolina home by police Monday morning. The loss of the actor who played Night Court‘s good-natured Judge Harry Stone from 1984 to 1992 brought out tributes from former cast members and stars.

Marsha Warfield, who came onto Night Court in 1986 as the show’s third bailiff, Rosalind Russell, left a tearful video on her Facebook page filmed in the front seat of her car after hearing the sad news.

“I didn’t know I was going to be this emotional or I wouldn’t have started this video,” said Warfield, barely holding back tears.

And I needed a lot at that time.”

Warfield said she was going to head home and try “to process” the passing.

“I hope his family is comforted in knowing that he was so very loved, and so very talented,” she said in closing. “I’m going to miss you, Harry. Harry the Hat. Rest in peace.”

Markie Post, who played Christine Sullivan on Night Court, couldn’t pull together a tribute because she was too emotional. She said she would talk more later, “but for now, I’m devastated.”

Columnist Dave Barry, whom Anderson played in Dave’s World, the 1990s CBS sitcom based on his life, wrote, “He was a very talented guy, and, more important, a genuinely nice guy.”

Neil Patrick Harris was “stunned” by the death of fellow magician Anderson, who worked at Los Angeles’ Magic Castle. Harris called him “one of my comedy and magic inspirations growing up.”

“The world lost a truly gifted actor and magician: Harry Anderson,” wrote illusionist David Copperfield. “Popular for his role on Night Court, Harry also inspired generations of magicians with his unique style.”

NBC, which aired Night Court, tweeted, “We’ll miss you, Harry Anderson. The honorable Judge Harry Stone is forever in our hearts.”

“I remember driving to NJ for $40/night gigs with him before he became a huge star,” recalled Mad About You star Paul Reiser, adding, “Nobody does that AFTER they’re a huge star. He was truly one of the nicest guys. A gentle soul. He will be missed. RIP friend.”

Comedian Gilbert Gottfried, who said he guest-starred on Night Court multiple times “way back when,” wrote, “Ran into him in N.Y. not that long ago. Always friendly. Always funny.”

Producer Judd Apatow wrote about being 15 and interviewing the star Anderson.

“He was so kind, and frank and hilarious,” Apatow wrote. “He was a one of a kind talent who made millions so happy.”
