On remembering Rico Swavey, Tobi described him as he was in the House. ‘You were real to all and free to all. Talented than us but never flossed on us, Tobi read.
He mentioned his ability to switch in an out of characters but he said he never derailed from who he was. He then concluded that the girls miss his goofiness but the guys miss his presence.

Unlike the previous games, today Biggie chose to take the Housemates to a carnival and the challenges only required nothing but concentration which meant that there was no need for protective gear.
After going through the challenges with the Housemates, the buzzer went off for Khloe to open the game and she couldn’t get past the last stage of the challenge until her allocated ten minutes was up. Tobi went next and it was a walk in the park for him. He managed to finish the challenge in less than six minutes.
Anto, Lolu and Alex followed in Khloe’s footstep and the challenged proved a bit difficult for them. Cee-C managed to finish hers in just over seven minutes while Nina was just six seconds from reaching her allocated ten mins.
The Housemates all started on a good note and for a while it looked like they would all finish in time, but that was not the case for most of them.
The five-part challenge consisted of navigating the maze, feeding Harry which required them to throw three balls into the mouth, tossing the ring, fishing and stick and pole which required the Housemates to poke a ball off its stand by passing a stick through three electrical rings.
Because they were racing against time, they didn’t realise that all the game wanted was patience and steadiness. Miracle, Tobi and Cee-C all got it right but the realisation is in the finish time.

Venezuela crisis: José Víctor Salazar Balza (28) catches fire amid violent clashes with riot police during a protest against President Nicolás Maduro, in Caracas, Venezuela, May 3, 2017.
President Maduro had announced plans to revise Venezuela’s democratic system by forming a constituent assembly to replace the opposition-led National Assembly, in effect consolidating legislative powers for himself. Opposition leaders called for mass protests to demand early presidential elections. Clashes between protesters and the Venezuelan national guard broke out on 3 May, with protesters (many of whom wore hoods, masks or gas masks) lighting fires and hurling stones. Salazar was set alight when the gas tank of a motorbike exploded. He survived the incident with first- and second-degree burns. (Photo: Ronaldo Schemidt/AFP)
The jury of the 61th World Press Photo Contest has selected an image by Venezuelan photographer Ronaldo Schemidt as the 2018 World Press Photo of the Year. Schemidt, a staff photographer for Agence France-Presse, based in Mexico, won with his image entitled ‘Venezuela Crisis,’ showing a protester on fire during clashes with police inCaracas, Venezuela.
Schemidt’s winning photo — which also won first prize in the Spot News Stories category — shows José Víctor Salazar Balza (28) on fire amid violent clashes with riot police during a protest against President Nicolás Maduro, in Caracas, Venezuela. Salazar was set alight when the gas tank of a motorbike exploded. He survived the incident with first- and second-degree burns.
The 2018 Photo Contest drew entries from around the world: 4,548 photographers from 125 countries submitted 73,044 images. The jury gave prizes in eight categories to 42 photographers from 22 countries.
Lagos Waterfronts under Threat Contemporary Issues, first prize singles- Jesco Denzel Germany
February 24, 2017
A boat with tourists from Lagos Marina is steered through the canals of the Makoko community—an ancient fishing village that has grown into an enormous informal settlement—on the shores of Lagos Lagoon, Lagos, Nigeria.
Makoko has a population of around 150,000 people, many of whose families have been there for generations. But Lagos is growing rapidly, and ground to build on is in high demand. Prime real estate along the lagoon waterfront is scarce, and there are moves to demolish communities such as Makoko and build apartment blocks: accommodation for the wealthy. Because the government considers the communities to be informal settlements, people may be evicted without provision of more housing. Displacement from the waterfront also deprives them of their livelihoods. The government denies that the settlements have been inhabited for generations and has given various reasons for evictions, including saying that the communities are hideouts for criminals. Court rulings against the government in 2017 declared the evictions unconstitutional and that residents should be compensated and rehoused, but the issue remains unresolved.
The prize-winning photographs are assembled into an exhibition that travels to 100 locations in 45 countries and is seen by more than 4 million people each year. The winning pictures are also published in the annual yearbook, which is available in multiple languages. The first World Press Photo Exhibition 2018 opens in De Nieuwe Kerk, Amsterdam, on April 14, 2018. For more information about the exhibition in Amsterdam, please follow this link.

Recently evicted Big Brother housemate Rico Swavey have predicted who he thinks would win the ongoing BBNaija Reality TV show. Rico in an interview after his eviction, said that informed that the winner will be either Miracle or Tobi as they have more fans.
He added that whoever wins though deserves the prize as everyone of them in the house works hard enough. He continued that he will be happy for any of the housemates who emerges as the winner as he believes in letting the best man wins.
He said: “That has to be… Like my nigga Bitto would say, ‘there’s a dichotomy in my head.’ So, it’s between Tobi and Miracle. “But whoever wins, I have much love for the person. Let the best man win. Whoever wins, it’s a great thing for the person.” Rico Swavey was evicted last weekend on April 8, 2018, for having the lowest votes from his votins while Nina and Lolu were saved.
Meek Mill has been involved in a lengthy court battle after being imprisoned for violation of probation late last year. On Thursday (April 12), NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt will air the rapper’s latest interview — conducted via phone call — in which he discusses how his arrest on drug and weapon charges a decade ago has impacted his life.
“Can you believe that 10 years in, 10 years on probation that you are still in the clutches of the criminal justice system because of this one arrest?” asked Lester Holt in a clip of the interview.
While Mill — born Robert Rihmeek Williams — says he didn’t initially believe he would be on probation for so long, he admitted that the length of probation was a sign that he would likely return to prison.
“It was always a thought in the back of my mind that 10 years of probation would bring me back to prison because a technical violation is police contact,” he said.
Mill went on to clarify his situation and explain how the law was not in his favor.
“You don’t have to be charged with a crime, you don’t have to be found guilty of a crime, you can be sentenced to what you were sentenced for, like what I was facing,” he told Holt.
Despite his conviction, Mill has remained active. Earlier this week, he shared a video for his 2017 track “1942 Flows.” The most recent update to Mill’s case involves a motion to the Supreme Court for his release on bail.
If there was a prize for the most enigmatic Housemate, Anto would likely win it. When she first entered the House, it was evident for all that she had a tough time connecting with her peers, outside Lolu with whom she shared an almost instant bond. Having lived and survived an Eviction, Anto came back with a revenge, determined as she was to show her true coulours.
A Changed Tune
Ever since being voted back by the BBNaija fans, Anto appeared to have spun her game around to the Housemates’ delight. Whereas before, she kept her distances, Anto has radically changed tack, which earned her to be in everyone’s good books. Take Khloe for instance, the fact that the two have shared the Eviction experience has definitely helped them bond like never before. Besides, Anto seems to have gracefully taken to Lolu’s peace brokering skills and borrowed from Rico’s water-no-get-enemyapproach, which has paid off. She has also played a key role in the Minaship on several occasions as she has helped the two lovebirds mend their relation.
Branched Off A Dash Too Far
Anto’s apparent early indifference may have well just sprung from a tremendous self-control, a impressive feat in the face of all the drama of the Double Wahala House. Of late though, Anto has won unanimous praise from her peers who unanimously lauded her mature, caring and generous nature. It goes without saying that her keeping most of the romantic sparkles at arm’s length must have contributed to her standing. Tobi has been drinking in her every words, just like Miracle whose Head of House rule she once shared. As for Lolu, there seems to be no end in sight for his infatuation with her.
Not Everyone’s Cup of Tea
Yet it has been a whole different ballgame with Cee-C, who seemed to have retrenched since Anto and Khloe’s return. Cee-C and Anto spoke for the third time since the start of the show, and have yet to gel with each other. While Cee-C seem to be a non-issue for Anto, the reverse might not be true for Cee-C has struggled to get attention since the two leading ladies returned. As for Alex, although there is no hostility in the air, curiously, she has yet to closely interact with Anto. That they both are at different end of the spectrum, one being extrovert and the other introvert, may explain why.
Winner of Big Brother Africa (BBA) All Stars edition, Uti Nwachukwu, has revealed that controversial Big Brother Naija housemate, Cee-c is the real ‘Double Wahala’.
The Tv host said the drama Cee-c provides for the house is real, adding that he loves it.
SW Recalls that former Big Brother Africa housemate, Pokello Nare, had also hailed Cee-c, describing the Anambra-born housemate as the real ‘Double Wahala’ and a force to reckon with. Pokello said this after Cee-c emerged with the second highest votes during last Sunday’s eviction.
Sharing a picture of Cee-c, Uti Nwachuwu on Instagram, wrote, ”This girl Shaaaa. ”The real Double Wahala…I pray she enters finale, Love her Drama.”
One of the Big Brother Naija reality show contestants Cee-C has managed to be in the news from the beginning of the show and towards the end of the show. Cee-C is well known by Nigerians for always having issues with other housemates, especially Tobi. She has also has issues with Lolu, Nina, Alex and Khloe.
While discussing with some of the housemates on Thursday, April 12, the controversial housemate narrated how she caused her best friend’s death while in school.Cee-C said: “I had a best friend then in school and one girl started dating the guy, she now started rubbing me like asking he guy to stop talking to me. So many things ooo, I was like God I wish this relationship will spoil. The guy died o, no jokes. The guy died in school just like that. I’m serious oh, he was the only child and his father died after two months because he could not take it.”
Cee-C’s sister has taken to Instagram to write her an emotional letter, and this comes a day after the housemate got into a messy fight with her colleague, Alex.
In case you have not been following the show: Cee-C has been painted the villain of this year’s edition, and it is all thanks to her strong personality and aversion to bullsh*t. Often, she is embroiled in squabbles with housemates, plus many people are displeased with her relationship with a favourite male housemate, Tobi.
And so, when Cee-C got into an emotional argument with Alex (which they quickly resolved), folks trouped to her Instagram to say unkind things about her and her family.
It was for this reason her sister, Belinda Nwadiora, who manages her Instagram, has written her an open letter.
Read her note below:
“Dear Sister, when mum left us I assumed the role of a mother to you, I have known you for 25years now and I know you better than anyone else because I played a huge part in your upbringing. I know I am not a failure and contrary to what SOME people think I did not raise a bipolar patient, I did not raise a witch, I did not raise an evil woman, I did not raise a bitter person rather I raised the most awesome and unique woman ever. Sis you are a woman with a good heart. You are the hot head in the family, and this strength has always driven you to ambitious heights, taking daunting challenges. I still can’t forget how u took it upon u to organize my wedding even when u hadn’t done anything similar before. I know #BBNAIJA may not be the best place for people to see your strengths but your drive for new things, new adventures and resilience pushed you through the audition and into the House. I know no matter how tough it gets you’ll pull through. It’s in you!
There are times I watch and break down emotionally for you then the next minute you’re basking in life and enthusiasm. You’re a strong woman and I know that you’ll be fine in and out of the house. I know your story will definitely be like the proverbial seed that has to fall and die in order to grow. Stay Strong.
That said, your many Amazing Fans and I will keep supporting you till day 85 because we believe that a story doesn’t end with the first Chapter.”
During a rare home visit, the superstar singer answers her critics and gives a glimpse into her creative process
The first thing you expect to see when you walk through the security-access gate of Mariah Carey‘s sprawling rented estate in Beverly Hills, where she moved in just weeks ago, is something excessive. And there it is: two towering pillars of pink, magenta and metallic-colored balloons, swaying in the early afternoon breeze on either side of the main house’s entrance, a holdover two days out from Valentine’s Day. It’s not surprising, really – she loves to be festive. After all, she’s become the reigning queen of Christmas with her evergreen “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” and even celebrated the holiday a second time in January 2016, just a week after getting engaged to billionaire James Packer.
Fast-forward to now and Carey started off the year by clearing the cache. She broke off the engagement with Packer in October, and documented some of it on her audacious reality series Mariah’s World, where she connected with her current boyfriend, dancer/choreographer Bryan Tanaka. During Rolling Stone‘s February 16th visit, Tanaka is looming around the estate, pattering after his pup, a tongue-wagging four-year-old pitbull named Mila whom he quarters off in the pool area next to the two-story guest house where “Dem Babies” – codename for Carey’s five-year-old twins – are hanging out. It was just a week prior that Carey released her YG-assisted single “I Don’t,” a sort of musical purging of her ex, emphasized by a music video in which she burns the $250,000 dress that she planned to marry him while wearing.
It makes sense that she would want a fresh start, particularly in this secluded, overgrown Los Angeles home, complete with a tennis court and next-level jungle gym, that’s valued at $100,000 a month and features nine bedrooms and 10 bathrooms. But she’s clearing her mind and separating herself from the clutter, particularly the storm cloud that currently hovers over her career: a performance on New Year’s Eve that was widely acknowledged as disastrous, one where she sputtered through her hits “We Belong Together” and “Emotions,” which sent her on both a media and social media hiatus in the time since.
“I don’t even want to bring this up too much, but whatever, we’re obviously talking about it, the New Year’s Eve situation – that couldn’t be helped,” she says, talking to Rolling Stone inside her home. In person, she’s glamorous, her hoop earrings studded with glimmering diamonds, gold buttons accenting her black dress, a butterfly ring cozying up to her gleaming silver nail polish. She stares at you directly in the eyes the entire time she talks, except when she rolls her eyes at a question she doesn’t love, in classic Mimi form.
Her explanation for NYE today matches the statement she released shortly after the fiasco, to combat Dick Clark Production’s refutation that they ignored her request to fix a problem with her in-ear monitors prior to the show. “It’s just something where if I can’t explain it to the entire world, then they’re not going to understand it, because it’s not what they do. Just like I wouldn’t understand somebody who had a desk job and how to do that. I couldn’t. I literally am incapable of being in the real world and surviving.”
It’s a rare press day for Carey, her first in the near months since the clock ticked into 2017, and a day after she debuted “I Don’t” on Jimmy Kimmel Live! For the performance, she was singing without a backing track, her vocals mint; it was largely hailed as a triumphant return to form. Some even said that she “redeemed” herself, an admittedly condescending assessment that largely discounts her 18 Number One singles and earned accolades, like becoming the third-best-selling female artist in the U.S. behind Barbra Streisand and Madonna. She’s had decades and decades of stellar performances throughout her career – “Don’t add that many decades,” she says – and only a handful of public mishaps, none of which got nearly as much attention as the New Year’s Eve mishap.
So how does she deal with controversy in 2017? “I used to get upset by things,” she says. “This was out of my control, and had everything not been such a total chaotic mess, then I would have been able to make something happen. Even the dancers should have stopped dancing and helped me off the fucking stage. I’m sorry. It was a mess, and I blame everybody, and I blame myself for not leaving after rehearsal.”
Her focus turned to family, particularly cultivating her relationship with Tanaka. It seemed relatively fast that they started publicly cozying up following her split from Packer, but their friendship stems back to 2006, when he was a dancer for Carey on tour, and culminated in a widely circulated clip from Mariah’s Worldwhere he asks if she really wants to marry Packer in what many speculated was a scripted scene. Most recently, Carey posted an Instagram picture of them knee-to-knee in a bathtub on Valentine’s Day; she still considers their relationship mostly sealed off.
“I don’t think we’re being public in a way that my relationships have been public before,” she says. “I really don’t. To me, the best thing of this is to keep it a little more private. But I’m not going to not go places with him and enjoy our lives because everybody thinks, ‘Oh, it’s too soon!’ kind of thing. We all saw the freakin’ show. This is not a surprise.”
As it stands, Carey seems to be relishing her freedom as a musician to record at ease. “I Don’t” is a standalone single that reinterpolates and samples Donell Jones’ “Where I Wanna Be” in Carey tradition. She’s been ahead of the curve in that way – some of her best remixes mine from songs like “Pure Imagination” for “I Still Believe” and Ghost Town DJ’s “My Boo,” which she swept up for the remix to “H.A.T.E. U” and saw a resurgence last year thanks to the Running Man Challenge. “The thing is, right now, it is a trend, and a trend that I’m very familiar with, making songs go around working with different samples, that’s what I do. Doesn’t matter if you’re inspired by songs from the 1980s, 1990s.”
Carey has no plans to record the follow-up to 2014’s sorely underrated Me. I Am Mariah… the Elusive Chanteuse, though she’s hashed out “conceptual stuff” with DJ Khaled and Travis Scott in the studio. Instead, she says, she plans on recording singles when she isn’t on the road with Lionel Richie on theirupcoming joint tour. She’s particularly intent on making her home an actual home – it feels somewhat empty, a fireplace accented by a few pictures of her in a red skin suit on vacation with her twins, and a bare hallway leading to where she’s spending the day doing interviews. “People who have an opinion about me, some of them feel like, ‘Oh, she’s not entitled to the same rules as someone else,'” she says. “I try my hardest.”
Mariah Carey said she was “mortified” by her disastrous New Year’s Eve performance, which was marred by technical difficulties. Watch here.
Mariah Carey, an American R&B singer, says she is battling bipolar disorder.
The singer revealed to People that she was first diagnosed with the mental illness in 2001 but “didn’t want to believe it”.
Some of the symptoms of bipolar disorder include depression, insomnia, sudden mood swings, irritability, and hyperactivity.
Carey says she is now in therapy and getting treatment for the disorder.
“Until recently I lived in denial and isolation and in constant fear someone would expose me,” she told the magazine.
“It was too heavy a burden to carry and I simply couldn’t do that anymore. I sought and received treatment, I put positive people around me and I got back to doing what I love – writing songs and making music.
“I’m actually taking medication that seems to be pretty good. It’s not making me feel too tired or sluggish or anything like that. Finding the proper balance is what is most important,”
In 2014, Carey separated from ex-husband and rapper, Nick Cannon. Their marriage produced twins, Moroccan and Monroe.
In January 2016, she announced her engagement to Joseph Parker but nine months later, the relationship hit a snag.
Carey is currently working on her 15th studio album.

After what seemed like an eternity of going back and forth, Mina finally threw the tension out the window and made peace.
After the Task festivities, things took a bit of a turn and the slope went slippery when Alex decided to put on her good friend cloak and confronted Nina about her ‘post-breakup’ behaviour; mentioning that Miracle was in fact hurt by all that has happened, but simply found solace in the company of the rest of the Housemates. Thanks to Nina’s new found stubbornness however, it all went south real quick.
Seeing as Nina refused to initiate their peace making process, Alex decided to play mediator and true enough, convinced a very minimally interested Miracle to engage and hear Nina out. The festivities took place in the confined bathroom space that only seemed to get smaller as the tension between the not so former lovebirds grew. It was pretty clear that Nina was adamant in her pursuit for sentimental justice and despite having a rather messy approach, she managed to put her point across, displaying the ‘not no naïve’ side to her and in not so many words, letting Miracle know that she was close to not caring anymore.
Calming The Storm
Miracle on the other hand had enough calm for the both them and even though he looked confused and rather uninterested for more than half the time, he managed to get his very well-articulated point across and explained how he drew his conclusions; confirming what Alex had said about him taking an emotional knock thanks to her ‘bff’ reference but deciding against self-pity and isolation.
Mina The Return
Through the rolling of eyes and having almost the entire House as jury in this specialised court session, Miracle and Nina’s apologies followed the oath-taking format as per the mediators Anto, Alex and Tobi and after a while of verbal pushing, pulling and shoving, love won, low-key though.
The winds of forgiveness seem to have blown about overnight because unlike last night when the two refused to even seal their apologies with a handshake; today saw them locking hands, call it morning glory. Mina is back!
#BBNaija 2018: ‘I’d rather remain single than date Miracle outside the house’ – Nina confesses
Big Brother Naija housemate, Nina has made it clear that there is no future between herself and her love interest, Miracle after the show.
Nina who has always talked about her boyfriend in the house made this clear during a discussion with Rico Swavey last night, and also admitted that her ‘friendship’ with Miracle won’t just end after the reality show, as she would love to keep him as a friend.
She said if her boyfriend doesn’t accept her back because of her dealings with Miracle in the BBN house, she would rather remain single than date Miracle.

So the questions remain, the biggest being “What went wrong?”
In the first few weeks of the game, it was pretty evident that the Big Brother Naija couples had distinguished themselves from their fellow Housemates. Even though the Housemates were paired and played the game in two’s, those who had a mutual understanding outside the game made it clear. From there on, it was #CoupleGoals every day and for a while, it looked as if they had thrown their strategies out the window and were focusing solely on love.
Before the pairing of the Housemates happened, they were already all over each other as if they had been doing this for long. That first hook up paved the way for other Housemates to follow suit and Tobi and Cee-C were next.
When official pairing came, it wasn’t debatable for the two pairs as to whom they’d pair with, everything flowed naturally. We were introduced to the birth of Ceebi and Mina.
Though it was smooth sailing for Mina and Ceebi, for Lolu, who had been partnered with Anto, it was a totally different story. Both seen as observant intellectuals in the House, Anto made it difficult for him and never gave in to his advances until she got Evicted.
No Looking Back
Things started crumbling between Tobi and Cee-C and almost every week there’d be a quarrel which would lead to silent treatment on both ends. Things took a turn for the worst when Tobi decided to go solo, something Cee-C never saw coming. The end of their relationship was sealed when the two decided to have nothing to do with each other.
Meanwhile, Nina and Miracle had a solid thing going on which everyone was aware of and no Housemate dared try to rock the boat.
The demise of Ceebi, reminded everyone of the uncertainty of the Big Brother game and when Anto returned from Eviction, Lolu’s courage had grown a hundred times more.
His efforts weren’t just words and even though Anto’s advantage of being able to learn things about him from outside were tabled, he finally reaped the fruits. They sealed the cat and mouse game with a kiss.
The word ‘friendship’ has many interpretations and Nina has her own which has caused a rattle between her and Miracle. And even though she’s explained herself, the gap seems to be growing between them.
However, she seems to have reached her quota of begging and is letting the whole situation play itself out.
Anto on the other hand, has made it clear to Lolu that the kiss basically meant nothing after telling him that on her return to the House, he’s only gained fifteen percent of her trust.
As things stand, after Nina told Miracle to “go hang”, in not so many words, there are no couples left in the House and all the goals they’ve given have been in vain. So the questions remain, the biggest being “What went wrong?”
