The wedding is a star-studded affair, and stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai, and Abhishek Bachchan performed at the sangeet.

Celebrations have begun for the wedding of Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal, and Grammy Award-winning singer Beyonce arrived in Udaipur, the city of lakes, on Sunday to perform at a pre-wedding celebration for the couple.

Beyonce sported a white printed ensemble and a pair of shades as she stepped out of the Maharana Pratap Airport. A red lip colour brightened up her look as she let her curly tresses loose.

Isha Ambani, the daughter of India’s richest man, is tying the knot with Anand Piramal, son of another Indian billionaire, this week.

Beyoncé was one of many celebrities flown in, along with Bollywood stars and figures like Hillary Clinton.

It comes on the heels of several recent Indian weddings competing for glamour, excess and attention.

The Ambanis themselves recently attended the wedding of Bollywood actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh.

And last weekend, Isha Ambani was a bridesmaid at the wedding of actress Priyanka Chopra to US singer Nick Jonas.

Beyonce’s arrival for a private concert has been much talked about since September when American singer John Legend performed at Isha and Anand’s engagement in Italy’s Lake Como.

The wedding celebrations are as grand as expected, with song, dance and feasts. On Saturday night, a glitzy sangeet ceremony saw the bride and groom’s family in a celebratory mood.

The actual wedding of the daughter of business tycoon Mukesh Ambani is on Wednesday but the festivities leading up to it kicked off over the weekend.

It is likely to be one of India’s richest and most glamorous weddings, and the many guests include former US First Lady and 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, media giant Arianna Huffington, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal.

Celebrity bloggers, entertainment writers and lifestyle magazines have been scouring Instagram to keep up with festivities.

Beyoncé took to the stage on Sunday night for the sangeet, an evening of music and dance that typically precedes the wedding.

She shared photos on her Instagram account of her jewel-studded outfit and elaborate gold jewellery.

Her fee hasn’t been made public, but would likely not have been a problem for the Ambanis. Mukesh Ambani, managing director of Reliance Industries, has a personal fortune of around $47bn (£37bn).

San Francisco Grace Cathedral opened their doors to the church’s first-ever Beyoncé Mass Wednesday night and it is estimated that over 900 people came to the celebration.

The mass was a traditional service that was devoted to Beyoncé’s music and accomplishments.

Worshippers sang along with Beyoncé’s hits and explored her inspirational history, particularly how she “opens a window into the lives of the marginalized and forgotten — particularly black females,” as the church described on its website.

The Beyoncé Mass was announced via a Facebook post two weeks ago and made local and international news.

“I heard about it about a week ago and was intrigued,” said Devin Daniels, 28, of San Francisco, who sported a hat reminiscent of the singer’s headgear in her “Formation” music video.

“I’ve followed Beyoncé forever and was of course revved up to come tonight by her recent Coachella performance.”

The idea sprang from a class called “Beyoncé and the Hebrew Bible” led by the Rev. Yolanda Norton, a San Francisco Theological Seminary assistant professor whose specialty is the Old Testament.

One of her students, Sam Lundquist, is a pastoral intern at the cathedral, and a collaboration was born.

For Norton, both the class and the Mass came from a desire to explore female-centric interpretations of the Bible — specifically how biblical texts reflect African American female identity.

She said:

“When we talk about womanist biblical interpretation, Beyoncé felt like a natural fit.

If we look at the trajectory of her person and her relationships, we can see so many issues black women face and how it can affect how we interpret the text.”

The Grace Cathedral service’s music was predictably from the canon of Beyoncé and her former group Destiny’s Child, starting with the girl group’s hit “Survivor.” Logan McWilliams sang “Listen” from the film “Dreamgirls” with an expanded version of the Vine choir and band.

Beyonce becomes first black woman to headline Coachella, reunites with Destiny’s Child

Beyonce became the first woman of color to headline Coachella on Saturday.

Beyonce made history Saturday night by becoming the first black woman to headline Coachella, marking her return to the stage since giving birth to her twins Rumi and Sir Carter.

“Y’all ready Coachella?” Beyonce said at the start of her set. “Thank you Coachella for allowing me to be the first black woman to headline.”

The singer, whose performance sparked the trending hashtag #Beychella, performed on the second night of the music festival in Indio, Calif. Fans have been anticipating Beyonce’s return to the festival stage after she canceled her performance the year before because of her pregnancy. Lady Gaga stepped in to fill the lineup in 2017.

“I was supposed to perform at Coachella before, but I ended up getting pregnant,” Beyoncé said. “I had time to dream with two beautiful souls in my belly and this, this is everything I dreamed of and more. I hope y’all enjoyed the show, we worked very hard.”

The 36-year-old singer also sent festivalgoers into a frenzy when she brought out Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams for a Destiny’s Child reunion. Rumors about the reunion have made headlines for months. The trio last performed together at the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show.

“MY GIRLS!!!! Tonight couldn’t have been more magical!!! #Coachella2018 #BeyChella,” Williams wrote on Instagram shortly after taking the stage.

Rowland also posted a group photo with the caption: “ma-kee-tata”

Beyonce’s sister, Solange Knowles, and husband Jay-Z also joined Beyonce on stage during her set.

Her performance with Jay-Z gave a preview of the couple’s upcoming On The Run II tour set for this summer. Her last performance was during the 2017 Grammy Awards.
