Babangida Nobody will read my biography because of my past – Babangida      By Adeola Opeyemi

Ibrahim Babangida said people might not read his biography because he was a dictator – The former head of state said people judge him by his past – He said he has received little or no commendation for conducting the freest election in Nigeria

A former head of state, Ibrahim Babangida, has lamented that his past as a military dictator is affecting the way people see him, as most Nigerians do not take him serious because of the annulment of June 12, 1993 election. Babangida, who made this statement during a programme on Channels TV titled ‘Roadmap 2019’, said he hoped that someday, the younger generation will ask for his own side of the story and understand why he cancelled the 1993 election. He said: “They say, ‘he cancelled the freest election in the history but he annulled it’ but nobody gives me credit for conducting the freest election in the country.

“We try to rationalise why we did what we did but nobody is prepared to listen to us. So, it is a matter of time. One day, the younger generation will say they have heard one side and want to hear the other side of the story. “Maybe by then we will have a better society that is prepared; that is well-informed of what happened within a period of their existence. They will then be able to say this is the true story.” Babangida said he and late Moshood Abiola were friends before he annulled the June 12 elections.

When asked if he would ever publish his biography, he said: “I don’t know. People may not read it because it is coming from a dictator. A lot will say ‘he is the one who cancelled June 12 and that will kill everything that I have to talk about. “I hope that one day God will spare my life so that I can discuss it because I still believe people don’t get what we were trying to do. Nobody has ever sat down to say the two personalities are friends, what went wrong.

“I have never seen anybody write about this to try to give people another version of things. I knew his feelings and he knew my own. We even talked about it during the crisis itself.” earlier reported that the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus along with members of the PDP National Working Committee met with General Babangida in Minna on Monday, April 16. The team arrived at the Minna airport with a chartered flight and was driven in a motorcade to the uphill residence of Babangida. The meeting was held behind closed doors in the presence of members of the Niger state working committee of the party led by the chairman, Barrister Tanko Beji.

Sheriff’s supporters threaten to quit PDP

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State loyal to a former national chairman of the party, Ali Sheriff, have threatened to pull out of the PDP over alleged imposition of the state executive committee by its national working committee.

The members also said Mr Sheriff remains their leader and would decide their next political direction.

They made this declaration on Sunday at a press conference in Damaturu, Yobe State capital, after their faction led by Lawan Karasuwa and a former minister of finance, Yerima Ngama, held a closed door meeting that lasted several hours.

The meeting was in reaction to a federal high court judgment in Abuja on Thursday dismissing their challenge of the legitimacy of the state executive committee.

The Karasuwa-led committee came into force during the reign of Mr Sheriff. But when the former Borno State governor was removed from office as national chairman by the Supreme Court, his successor, Mr Makarfi, ordered composition of fresh state working committees.

But the Karasuwa-led committee contended that it was not duly dissolved before a new state working committee was “imposed” on the state.

The current executive committee led by Sani Nguru, a former chairman of APC in Yobe State, is believed to be loyal to a former minister of police affairs, Adamu Waziri, a serial governorship candidate of the party in Yobe.

Following the court ruling in favoru of Mr. Waziri’s faction, the aggrieved members vowed never again to be in the same party with the former minister whom they blamed for the 20 years woes of the PDP in Yobe State.

They also foreclosed any dialogue or truce with Mr. Waziri.

Though the group did not clearly state its next direction, PREMIUM TIMES learnt from multiple sources at the meeting that it was concluded they will be joining the ruling APC.

Yermima Ngama, a former Managing Director of First Bank, read the resolution of the meeting during the press conference.

“Since its inception in 1998, the PDP was well received in Yobe state”, he said. “In 1999 when the local government elections were conducted, PDP won in ten local government areas in Yobe state out of the 17 local governments.

“Unfortunately since that time our fortune continued to dwindle and we were unable to clinch the leadership in Yobe State, because the party has been in one crisis or the other up till today. And this is basically because of selfishness of some certain persons, and also the selfishness of some national party leaders who decided to pitch camp with those individuals.

“The history of crisis, rancour, anti-party activities, failures has been our plight. With all this, fingers have been pointing towards one direction of people who believe that things must always be their way. They would never follow anybody and everybody has to follow them. And that crisis has continued till this day.

“During my leadership as minister of finance from Yobe state, I did everything within my reach to bring together the three factions that I inherited – the Adamu Waziri faction, Senator Albishir faction and the neutral group; and we were able to conduct a well accepted congress in 2012.

“However, immediately the national leadership crisis set in in 2014, the then national chairman of the PDP, Adamu Muazu, who is well known for his impunity, unilaterally dissolved our Exco in Yobe State, and set up a so-called caretaker committee, and we lost the general election.

“After that, the party went into several crisis and Ali Modu Sheriff came in to salvage this party. Under the leadership of Senator Sheriff, because all the tenure of excos had expired, a new round of congress was conducted and the one in Yobe state was held successfully, but towards the end, some group withdrew because they don’t like the result that came out of the Yobe congress. Since then, the party was divided.

“The coming in of Senator Ahmed Makarfi also saw a further division within the party where by some 90 percent of PDP members in Yobe State who were loyal to Senator Ali Modu Sheriff were disenfranchised. It was interesting to note that in other states, Makarfi dissolved their Excos before he ordered for fresh elections, but in our own, we didn’t even have that recognition. He unilaterally asked Adamu Waziri to form his own Exco.

“Given that crisis the entire membership of PDP met in Karasuwa town of Yobe state where we reviewed everything about the party from 1999 to that time and resolved that there is only one way for PDP as a party to succeed and to even attracting other people to join it, before thinking of forming state government.

“An and to do that we have to take a far-reaching decision which we now call the Karasuwa declaration – which is, we as party members will never, ever have anything to do with Alhaji Adamu Maziri and his group. With that Karasuwa declaration, our leader, Senator Muhammed Dambu, advised us to go to court to challenge the existence of two excos in one state.

“And last Thursday the court gave its own judgment. Though the judgment came to us as very funny and surprising, after a careful examination of the ruling, we found out that what the judge told us was true because any political crisis can only be judged in accordance to what is contained in the constitution of the party.

“So if the party has a defective constitution, the judge can only judge on the basis of that defective constitution. So the presiding judge ruled that the state executive council under the leadership of Lawan Gana karasuwa was properly constituted and were properly sworn in and they were properly given certificate of return. With that, the PDP in Yobe state has been handed over to Alhaji Adamu Maina Waziri who controlled less than ten percent of the membership of the party.

“So what we did here today is to review all that happened to the party, and in doing that we have all the members of the state Exco under Lawan Gana Karasuwa, we have party chairmen from the 17 local government areas of Yobe state and their Exco, we other stake holders and we have communicated with other stakeholders who have not been able to make it here to tell them about our resolution which they endorsed and have given us permission to speak on their behalf.

“And the resolution we reached is as follows:-

That all the stakeholders have agreed to stand by the earlier Karasuwa declaration that we will no work with Alhaji Adamu Maina waziri and his faction; also we will never get involved in anything that has to do with Adamu Maina Waziri; that is to say even if by tomorrow, the exco calls for a reconciliation with Adamu Maina Waziri, we will not go.

“We also resolved to support our leader, Senator Muhammed Danbu to pursue further legal action to appeal on the decision of the federal high court and we have asked him to pursue it until we reach the Supreme court.

“However, we have also resolved that we have unanimously and without any reservation handed over our political future to Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, we will, without any hesitation, automatically abide by any directive given to us by Senator Ali Modu Sheriff concerning our political future. Whatever he says, that is what we are going to do”.

The chairman of the PDP in the state, Mr Nguru, did not immediately respond to several calls to his mobile phone. But when he eventually picked, he said he would only speak at a later time as he was busy.

An inside look at everything Meghan Markle is eating and her favorite workouts ahead of the Royal Wedding.: Meghan Markle's Wedding Workout and Diet is Easy© Geneviève Charbonneau Meghan Markle’s Wedding Workout and Diet is EasyThe workouts and meal plan the future royal is relying on ahead of her May wedding.

Sweating for the wedding takes on a whole new level of insanity when said wedding is broadcast to roughly two billion people around the world. No pressure. Luckily for Meghan Markle, she’s had her diet and exercise regimen locked-down for years. As the daughter of a yoga instructor, Markle loves to cook and eats a predominately plant-based diet, but she allows room for occasional indulgences. She’s also a workout fiend, crediting everything pilates and running with keeping her fit. Ahead, find out how Markle’s secrets for will looking and feeling her best on royal wedding day.

a close up of a logo: Meghan Markle's Wedding Workout and Diet is Easy© . Meghan Markle’s Wedding Workout and Diet is EasyMeghan Markle eats fries, drinks wine, and indulges in the occasional ice cream cone-because what is life without a treat here or there? The key is to make most of your diet full of nourishing plant-based foods that are naturally low in calories but high in fiber. “I try to eat vegan during the week and then have a little bit more flexibility with what I dig into on the weekends,” Markle previously said while filming Suits. “But at the same time, it’s all about balance. Because I work out the way I do, I don’t ever want to feel deprived. I feel that the second you do that is when you start to binge on things. It’s not a diet; it’s lifestyle eating.”

An ideal day of eating for Markle looks like this: “A Clean Cleanse vanilla shake blended with frozen Ontario blueberries for breakfast, a Niçoise salad and glass of rosé, with some Grey Owl goat cheese and baguette on the side for lunch, and a leisurely dinner of seafood and pasta, and a negroni to cap off the night,” she previously told The New Potato.

Markle considers herself a pro-carb kind of girl, unlike her future sister-in-law Kate Middleton who adopted a low-carb, high-protein meal plan ahead of her wedding in 2011. “French fries – I could eat French fries all day. And I love pasta. I love carbs – who doesn’t love a carbohydrate?” Markle has said. “The same goes for wine. Of course I’m going to have that glass of wine – it’s delicious and I enjoy it.” In fact, she even named her now-defunct lifestyle blog The Tigafter her favorite brand of red wine, Tignanello. “God, do I love wine; a beautiful full red or a crisp white. But if it’s cocktails, I love a spicy tequila cocktail, negroni, or good scotch-neat,” she said“Do the things you enjoy within reason,” she says. “Know your body and what works for you and you’ll be fine.” future royal stocks her fridge with healthy snacks and staples you can pick up at any grocery store. “Hummus, carrots-because I love them and so does my dog, Bogart, strangely-a green juice, almond milk, for sure, and a chia seed pudding I make every single week,” she previously told Good Housekeeping.“So easy, so good. I really love to cook.”

She credits her SoCal childhood and time spent around TV-set craft services tables (of all things!) with kickstarting her fascination with cooking and entertaining. “Growing up in Southern California…we had a meyer lemon tree and fig tree in my backyard, I loved gardening and growing my own vegetables. That farm to table ethos was ingrained at such a young age, Also, I grew up on the set of the TV show Married with Children where my dad was the lighting director. The show was, shall we say, saucier than a little girl my age should be watching, so my dad would have me help in craft services,” she told Eye Swoon. “I would help make the food trays, and learned how connective food could be – how happy people would be when I walked in with a tray of perfect crudités. It was awesome, and definitely planted the seed of my love for making and sharing food.” has been busy traveling ahead of her May wedding, but she has a go-to room service meal when she’s on the road. “If I’m at a hotel I will likely order poached eggs and toast with avocado,” she says. Carbs, protein, healthy fats-it checks all the boxes.

Prior to her engagement to Prince Harry, Markle would document her fitness routine on Instagram and her (now defunct) lifestyle site The Tig. She credits pilates, running, and yoga for keeping her lean and strong. “Running has always been my form of moving meditation, which I relish because it allows me to get out of my head,” Markle previously told Women’s Health. prefers Megaformer pilates, which uses a machine that combines the toning of pilates with the resistance training of bodybuilding.“[It’s] hands down the best thing you could do for your body,” US Weeklycredits Markle saying. “Your body changes immediately.”

Before moving to London, she told Women’s Health about one workout she was eager to try. “I’m eager to come to the UK to do a workout with Russell [Bateman], the founder of SBC,” she said. “My friend Millie Macintosh raves about his workouts, so I’ll call her up to do a class together next time I’m back in London.”

Muammar Gaddafi: Who Will Save Some Nigerians From Intellectual Laziness? – Adesina

Since President Muhammadu Buhari met with the Archbishop of Canterbury in London on Wednesday, and spoke on the likely impact of gunmen trained by former Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi, on the killings by herdsmen in Nigeria, some people have virtually flown off the handle, ululating as if wailing was going out of fashion.

They twisted the meaning of Mr President’s words (yes, some people twist everything, even the words of God; 2 Peter:3, 15,16). They claimed he was blaming Gaddafi, long dead, for the killings in Nigeria.

But let’s see the vacuousness and intellectual laziness in the twist they have given what President Buhari said, out of sheer malice and evil hearts. Sadly, even a Senator was involved in the sickening display of poisonous heart. That’s what you get when small minds get into high places.

Here’s what Mr President told Archbishop Justin Welby:
“The problem is even older than us. It has always been there, but now made worse by the influx of armed gunmen from the Sahel region into different parts of the West African sub-region. These gunmen were trained and armed by Muammar Gadaffi of Libya. When he was killed, the gunmen escaped with their arms. We encountered some of them fighting with Boko Haram. Herdsmen that we used to know carried only sticks and maybe a cutlass to clear the way, but these ones now carry sophisticated weapons. The problem is not religious, but sociological and economic. But we are working on solutions.”

> “The problem is even older than us,” said President Buhari. If anybody is not challenged with simple understanding of English language, does this mean pre-Gaddafi? The former Libyan leader was born in 1942, and killed in October 2011, making him 69 years old at the time of his death. So, did he cause clashes between farmers and herdsmen, which the President said was older than most living Nigerians? Only rabidly mischievous minds can conceive such.

“It has always been there, but now made worse…” If you say something has been exacerbated by a factor, does it mean such factor is the cause? Simply illogical.

The President talked about the influx of militia trained, armed and used by Gaddafi, who now dispersed into different countries, including possibly Nigeria, after the Libyan strongman’s death. Are some people claiming ignorance of such development, despite it being global knowledge? So deep must be the ignorance of such people. Simple research will show them the Libyan influence on proliferation of small arms all over Africa, after Gaddafi’s death.

The President then talked about the herdsmen we used to know, who carried just sticks, and at worst a cutlass, saying those armed with sophisticated weapons were unknown to this clime. Is that not true?

If herdsmen have suddenly turned murderous in a country, it calls for all sorts of interrogation, including intellectual, as to what may have gone wrong. The causes could be multifarious. And solutions must be jointly proffered.

A President has sensitive security reports available to him. President Buhari gave another vista from which the herdsmen/farmers clashes could be considered, but rather than be reflective and do critical interrogation, the wailers engaged in their pastime: they began to wail, including senators and people who should naturally be level headed and examine issues dispassionately. Very sorry.

“But we are working on solutions,” President Buhari told the cleric. They ignored that. It holds no meaning for them. They are interested in problems, not solutions. Problems serve their pernicious interests more. Pity!
That is what hatred does to the heart. It stunts the mind and poisons the soul. Such heart plays petty partisan and divisive politics with every matter. It is what President Buhari at that meeting called “irresponsible politics.” And as we head for general elections next year, much more of it would be seen, except such people reform, and put on their thinking caps.

The tendency now is to twist and slant every word from President Buhari in the negative, all in a bid to demean, de-market, and demonize him, and make him unattractive to the electorate. But those who do it are to be pitied. Sensible Nigerians know what the President is doing for the country, and would queue behind him at the polls next year. At the end of it all, the detractors would be holding the short ends of the stick, and looking small, forlorn and disconsolate. Where would they then hide their faces?

2019: IBB endorses SDP

Former Military President and chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, General Ibrahim Babangida, IBB, yesterday shocked many when he openly declared support for the Social Democratic Party, SDP, led by former Secretary to Government of the Federation, SGF, Chief Olu Falae. Speaking in Minna over the weekend when the national leadership of the party visited him at his hill-top mansion in Minna, Babangida said the party was real and smart, with the zeal to deliver democratic dividends to the people.

“If I hadn’t been too old, I would have loved to join the youths vanguard of your party. I have faith in the political party, for what it is and what it stands for. When I heard in the news that a party has come on board, the first thing that occurred to me was that the name sounds familiar, so I made a decision that I will wait and see how it plays out.

ibb1General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd),

‘’I was looking at how SDP will populate itself. And then the next pleasing thing that I heard was that it has people like Olu Falae, Professor Jerry Gana, Professor Adeniran. “After that I said this party is real, because most of the names are names that I have known and I have worked with and for the sake of this country, so I said the party is smart to convinced all these gentlemen to come and join them. ‘

’That is why I did not hesitate to give direction to those who came to me to seek advice on which direction to go.” Babangida pointed out that the vision he had for the country was the same vision that is shared by those driving the party, adding that “the security and well being of Nigerians are very important and you have identified this in your programme, so Nigerians must rally round you and support you to ensure that this is realizable.” Babangida urged the younger generation and women to give their support to SDP as it is “populated by men of integrity, men who when they work, they work well, when they speak, they speak well.”

Babangida then advised the leadership of the party to make its manifestos public to Nigerians, so they could be held accountable. In his address earlier, the National Chairman of the Party, Chief Olu Falae, said they were in the state to see General Babangida as part of the party’s nationwide consultation to brief him on the activities of the party and to solicit for his support and wise counselling.

Yakasai, Waku, Na’Abba, seek IBB’s support for new association

The Chairman of Northern Leaders and Stakeholders Assembly (NLSA), Alhaji Tanko Yakasai, yesterday led members of the Steering Committee to Minna, to seek the support of former military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babaginda.

On the entourage of the chairman were former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Umar Na’aba, two former ministers of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Senator Bala Muhammad and Mohammed Abba Gana; former Minister of Commerce Alhaji Mustapha Bello, as well as Senator Joseph Waku.

Others were two former ministers of Women Affairs, Hajiya Mayam Inna Ciroma and Hajiya Zainab Maina; former Minister of National Planning Dr Mohammed Shata, former Governor of Niger State Dr Muazu Babaginda Aliyu.

In his address, Alhaji Yakasai said the organization was established in February 10, 2018 as a direct response to the dire need to promote the cultural and political unity among all northerners and by extension Nigeria.

He said the group was political but not partisan, explaining, “The door of the assembly is open to all northerners irrespective of their ethnicity, differences in religious and political beliefs or sectional backgrounds.”

He said although the idea to form the body came months to 2019 general elections, “We are aiming far beyond this year’s electioneering.” He said the body was interested in coming up with an agenda that would form the basis for its support for anybody aspiring for an elective office at any level of governance.

He added that the body intended to convene a northern political summit to address the disquiet, distrust and loss of confidence of Nigerians against the political class which he said was creating a serious threat to the survival of democracy.

Responding, General Babaginda commended the body for its vision of a united and prosperous Nigeria, and promised to support the initiative. The former military president also accepted to be one of the patrons of the body.

Lanigan bridge on Friday, May 19, 2017.

HOUSTON (AP) — Former first lady Barbara Bush is in “failing health” and won’t seek additional medical treatment, a Bush family spokesman said Sunday.

“Following a recent series of hospitalizations, and after consulting her family and doctors, Mrs. Bush, now age 92, has decided not to seek additional medical treatment and will instead focus on comfort care,” spokesman Jim McGrath said in a news release.

McGrath did not elaborate as to the nature of Bush’s health problems. She has been treated for decades for Graves’ disease, which is a thyroid condition.

“It will not surprise those who know her that Barbara Bush has been a rock in the face of her failing health, worrying not for herself — thanks to her abiding faith — but for others,” McGrath said. “She is surrounded by a family she adores, and appreciates the many kind messages and especially the prayers she is receiving.”

Bush is one of only two first ladies who was also the mother of a president. The other was Abigail Adams, wife of John Adams and mother of John Quincy Adams.

She married George H.W. Bush in 1945. They had six children and have been married longer than any presidential couple in American history.

Eight years after she and her husband left the White House, Mrs. Bush stood with her husband as their son George W. was sworn in as president.

She’s known for her white hair and her triple-strand fake pearl necklace.

Her brown hair began to gray in the 1950s, while her 3-year-old daughter Pauline, known to her family as Robin, underwent treatment for leukemia and eventually died in October 1953. She later said dyed hair didn’t look good on her and credited the color to the public’s perception of her as “everybody’s grandmother.”

Her pearls sparked a national fashion trend when she wore them to her husband’s inauguration in 1989. The pearls became synonymous with Bush, who later said she selected them to hide the wrinkles in her neck. The candid admission only bolstered her common-sense and down-to-earth public image.

Her 94-year-old husband also has had health issues in recent years.

In April 2017, the nation’s 41st president was hospitalized in Houston for two weeks for a mild case of pneumonia and chronic bronchitis. He was hospitalized months earlier, also for pneumonia, spent time in 2015 at a hospital in Maine, where he and his wife have a summer home in Kennebunkport, after falling and breaking a bone in his neck. In Houston in December 2014, he was treated for shortness of breath and spent Christmas 2012 in intensive care for a bronchitis-related cough and other issues.

Bush, who served as president from 1989 to 1993, has a form of Parkinson’s disease and uses a motorized scooter or a wheelchair for mobility. He also served as a congressman, CIA director and Ronald Reagan’s vice president.

Barbara Pierce Bush was born in Rye, New York. Her father was the publisher of McCall’s and Redbook magazines. She married at age 19 while George Bush was a young naval aviator. After World War II, the Bushes moved to Texas where he went into the oil business.

Along with her memoirs, she’s the author of “C. Fred’s Story” and “Millie’s Book,” based on the lives of her dogs. Proceeds from the books benefited adult and family literacy programs. The Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy began during her White House years with the goal of improving the lives of disadvantaged Americans by boosting literacy among parents and their children. The foundation partners with local programs and had awarded more than $40 million to create or expand more than 1,500 literacy programs nationwide.

RicoNigerian comedian, Francis Agoda, aka ‘I Go dye’ has expressed willingness to support BBNaija 2018 ex-housemate, Rico Swavey, in his restaurant business.

Rico was recently evicted from the ongoing BBNaija Double Wahala reality show after receiving the lowest votes of 7.71 per cent among the housemates nominated for eviction.
The comedian took to his Instagram handle @igodye_ on Wednesday to extol the ex-housemate for his calm disposition during his stay on the show.

“Devoid of immoral justification that was expected of you.”

Particularly, ‘I Go Dye’ commended Rico for helping to carve the perception of Nigerian men in positive light as “a symbol of respect, dignity and culture in domestic activities.”

He added: “I kindly use this medium to celebrate one of the finest gentlemen, with modest standard, who expressed a pleasant social decorum on exemplary qualities.

“That projected the real values of a young African man, as a symbol of respect, dignity, cultured in domestic activities.

“You have proven that we still have more responsible youths in Nigeria, your character will change a lot of perceptions about our Nigerian men; my profound respect to you.

“Please understand that your eviction doesn’t stop you from becoming what you desire. Try and maintain this standard.

“Soonest, the sky will be your stepping stone, because you are the next stage butterfly.

“I shall continually celebrate anyone with your kind of remarkable character and humane attitude of purpose.”

Full transcript of Trump’s address on Syria airstrikes

international News, personality, SYRIA

President Trump announced late Friday that the United States had conducted a military attack against the Syrian government in retaliation for a chemical weapons attack that killed civilians in a rebel-held town outside Damascus last weekend. This is the text of his speech.

trum 10“My fellow Americans, a short time ago, I ordered the United States Armed Forces to launch precision strikes on targets associated with the chemical weapons capabilities of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad. A combined operation with the armed forces of France and the United Kingdom is now underway. We thank them both.

Tonight, I want to speak with you about why we have taken this action.

One year ago, Assad launched a savage chemical weapons attack against his own innocent people. The United States responded with 58 missile strikes that destroyed 20 percent of the Syrian Air Force.

Last Saturday, the Assad regime again deployed chemical weapons to slaughter innocent civilians — this time, in the town of Douma, near the Syrian capital of Damascus. This massacre was a significant escalation in a pattern of chemical weapons use by that very terrible regime.

The evil and the despicable attack left mothers and fathers, infants and children, thrashing in pain and gasping for air. These are not the actions of a man; they are crimes of a monster instead.

Following the horrors of World War I a century ago, civilized nations joined together to ban chemical warfare. Chemical weapons are uniquely dangerous not only because they inflict gruesome suffering, but because even small amounts can unleash widespread devastation.

The purpose of our actions tonight is to establish a strong deterrent against the production, spread and use of chemical weapons. Establishing this deterrent is a vital national security interest of the United States. The combined American, British, and French response to these atrocities will integrate all instruments of our national power — military, economic and diplomatic. We are prepared to sustain this response until the Syrian regime stops its use of prohibited chemical agents.

I also have a message tonight for the two governments most responsible for supporting, equipping and financing the criminal Assad regime.

To Iran and to Russia, I ask: What kind of a nation wants to be associated with the mass murder of innocent men, women, and children?

The nations of the world can be judged by the friends they keep. No nation can succeed in the long run by promoting rogue states, brutal tyrants and murderous dictators.

In 2013, President Putin and his government promised the world that they would guarantee the elimination of Syria’s chemical weapons. Assad’s recent attack — and today’s response — are the direct result of Russia’s failure to keep that promise.

Russia must decide if it will continue down this dark path, or if it will join with civilized nations as a force for stability and peace. Hopefully, someday we’ll get along with Russia, and maybe even Iran — but maybe not.

I will say this: The United States has a lot to offer, with the greatest and most powerful economy in the history of the world.

In Syria, the United States — with but a small force being used to eliminate what is left of ISIS — is doing what is necessary to protect the American people. Over the last year, nearly 100 percent of the territory once controlled by the so-called ISIS caliphate in Syria and Iraq has been liberated and eliminated.

The United States has also rebuilt our friendships across the Middle East. We have asked our partners to take greater responsibility for securing their home region, including contributing large amounts of money for the resources, equipment and all of the anti-ISIS efforts. Increased engagement from our friends, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Egypt and others can ensure that Iran does not profit from the eradication of ISIS.

America does not seek an indefinite presence in Syria under no circumstances. As other nations step up their contributions, we look forward to the day when we can bring our warriors home. And great warriors they are.

Looking around our very troubled world, Americans have no illusions. We cannot purge the world of evil or act everywhere there is tyranny.

No amount of American blood or treasure can produce lasting peace and security in the Middle East. It’s a troubled place. We will try to make it better, but it is a troubled place. The United States will be a partner and a friend, but the fate of the region lies in the hands of its own people.

In the last century, we looked straight into the darkest places of the human soul. We saw the anguish that can be unleashed and the evil that can take hold. By the end of World War I, more than one million people had been killed or injured by chemical weapons. We never want to see that ghastly specter return.

So today, the nations of Britain, France and the United States of America have marshaled their righteous power against barbarism and brutality.

Tonight, I ask all Americans to say a prayer for our noble warriors and our allies as they carry out their missions”

Trump Had Affair With Housekeeper That Produced a Child, Former Doorman Claims – Greg Price , Newsweek

Celebrity Gists, international News, personality, Politics, Power

President Donald Trump had a relationship with a former housekeeper that produced a child, a former Trump World Tower doorman claimed in a statement released Thursday afternoon.

The doorman, Dino Sajudin, spoke out after reports published Thursday morning detailed his agreement with American Media Inc., the publisher of The National Enquirer, that included a $30,000 payment for the exclusive rights to the story.

“Today I awoke to learn that a confidential agreement that I had with AMI (The National Enquirer) with regard to a story about President Trump was leaked to the press,” Sajudin statement’s to CNN read. “I can confirm that while working at Trump World Tower I was instructed not to criticize President Trump’s former housekeeper due to a prior relationship she had with President Trump which produced a child.”

News reports have not been able to confirm Sajudin’s story and The National Enquirer could not prove the story to be true and opted not to publish it. The payment and agreement with Sajudin were reportedly made in November 2015, as Trump stormed the campaign trail and headed toward the White House.

The housekeeper and her child have not been named in news reports, and Sajudin’s claim remains unverified.

Still, Sajudin’s allegation and the story of his payment have created another rash of headlines about the president’s alleged sexual encounters. Trump was still dealing with the fallout of adult film star Stormy Daniels claim of a sexual tryst with the future president in 2006 and the $130,000 Trump’s attorney paid to her in October 2016. Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, had signed a nondisclosure agreement but has since sued to claim the agreement was void because Trump had not signed it.

Former Playboy Playmate Karen McDougal has also claimed that she had an almost year-long affair with Trump between 2006 and 2007. The president had been married to First Lady Melania Trump at the time of both reported encounters, which are alleged to have occurred in the months following the birth of youngest son Barron.

Meek Mill Tells Lester Holt He Always Thought His Probation Would Bring Him Back to Prison

international News, Music, personality, song

Mills.jpgMeek Mill has been involved in a lengthy court battle after being imprisoned for violation of probation late last year. On Thursday (April 12), NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt will air the rapper’s latest interview — conducted via phone call — in which he discusses how his arrest on drug and weapon charges a decade ago has impacted his life.

“Can you believe that 10 years in, 10 years on probation that you are still in the clutches of the criminal justice system because of this one arrest?” asked Lester Holt in a clip of the interview.

While Mill — born Robert Rihmeek Williams — says he didn’t initially believe he would be on probation for so long, he admitted that the length of probation was a sign that he would likely return to prison.

“It was always a thought in the back of my mind that 10 years of probation would bring me back to prison because a technical violation is police contact,” he said.

Mill went on to clarify his situation and explain how the law was not in his favor.

“You don’t have to be charged with a crime, you don’t have to be found guilty of a crime, you can be sentenced to what you were sentenced for, like what I was facing,” he told Holt.

Despite his conviction, Mill has remained active. Earlier this week, he shared a video for his 2017 track “1942 Flows.” The most recent update to Mill’s case involves a motion to the Supreme Court for his release on bail.

He said, “the Military told me that they arrested some suspects and I alongside another person we should come in our position as JTF to verified their identity at Badarawa so after an inquiry they allowed the other person to go and asked me to follow them”.

” They now took me to Kukwa Ahmed Aruwa Firm, and kept me there I was there when a Military Captain came and left there after he sent an intelligent officer who now came and told me that I was the one who killed Lawan Bakin Ruwa”.

“I told them as a civilian JTF how can I killed anybody, they now started torturing me that II most accept that I’m the one who killed him and Senator Shehu Sani was the one who contracts us to do it”.

Garba added, ” the Military at the firm insisted that II most accept that Senator Shehu Sani gave Bashir Hamadada money to pay us for the killing of Lawan and I told them I neither knew Bashir no Lawan they are talking about”.

Garba Isa added that he spent two weeks with the military but still refused to implicate Senator Shehu Sani “and later we were transferred to the Kaduna State State CID were I spent almost a month and from where I was taken to Prison”.

He said it was at a Kaduna State High Court that he got his bail but his right-hand side is now having serious injuries making him to go on treatment because of the alleged military torture.

All efforts to hear from the Military Command in Kaduna proved abortive.

BBNaija 2018: Anto’s Manifesto

Africa, BBNaija, Big Brother Naija, personality

antoIf there was a prize for the most enigmatic Housemate, Anto would likely win it. When she first entered the House, it was evident for all that she had a tough time connecting with her peers, outside Lolu with whom she shared an almost instant bond. Having lived and survived an Eviction, Anto came back with a revenge, determined as she was to show her true coulours.

A Changed Tune

Ever since being voted back by the BBNaija fans, Anto appeared to have spun her game around to the Housemates’ delight. Whereas before, she kept her distances, Anto has radically changed tack, which earned her to be in everyone’s good books. Take Khloe for instance, the fact that the two have shared the Eviction experience has definitely helped them bond like never before.  Besides, Anto seems to have gracefully taken to Lolu’s peace brokering skills and borrowed from Rico’s water-no-get-enemyapproach, which has paid off. She has also played a key role in the Minaship on several occasions as she has helped the two lovebirds mend their relation.

anto2Branched Off A Dash Too Far

Anto’s apparent early indifference may have well just sprung from a tremendous self-control, a impressive feat in the face of all the drama of the Double Wahala House. Of late though, Anto has won unanimous praise from her peers who unanimously lauded her mature, caring and generous nature. It goes without saying that her keeping most of the romantic sparkles at arm’s length must have contributed to her standing. Tobi has been drinking in her every words, just like Miracle whose Head of House rule she once shared. As for Lolu, there seems to be no end in sight for his infatuation with her.

Not Everyone’s Cup of Tea

Yet it has been a whole different ballgame with Cee-C, who seemed to have retrenched since Anto and Khloe’s return. Cee-C and Anto spoke for the third time since the start of the show, and have yet to gel with each other. While Cee-C seem to be a non-issue for Anto, the reverse might not be true for Cee-C has struggled to get attention since the two leading ladies returned. As for Alex, although there is no hostility in the air, curiously, she has yet to closely interact with Anto. That they both are at different end of the spectrum, one being extrovert and the other introvert, may explain why.

BBNaija 2018: Ex-BBA star, Uti Nwachukwu identifies real ‘Double Wahala’ housemate

Big Brother Naija Day 75: The Rico Aftershocks!!!

The Rico Aftershocks!!!

Rico.3jpgAll Housemates except Cee-C admitted to missing Rico Swavey. Anto had noticed that his departure had affected some more than others, and wished him well. For Tobi, Rico had played safe and thought highly of Rico.

Tobi was the first to admit he missed him the most in the kitchen. Khloe had the hardest time since she missed having someone to talk to at nights, and had nobody to fight with when she was tipsy. In Miracle’s view, Rico’s humour was sorely missed but again he felt lucky to have learned a few dishes from him. For Alex, though Rico’s goofiness was missed, there hadn’t been any food fights since he left.

The biggest blow came from Cee-C, according to whom, people didn’t talk about Rico at all. Worse, despite everybody acknowledging Tobi and Miracle for stepping into Rico’s chef shoes, in Cee-C’s eyes, nobody had gone into the kitchen to cook for all. Nobody except Anto whom she praised for making burgers.  Perhaps Lolu’s analysis that many saw in Rico a big threat was proven right?

2019 Elections, Africa, PDP, personality, Politics, Power

aluko3We can authoritatively confirmed a great disarray within the Ekiti state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, as a former deputy governor of the state who was also a strong backbone of the party, Surveyor Abiodun Aluko, today declared his gubernatorial ambition under the Mega Party of Nigeria, MPN.

aluko1.jpgAluko reportedly left the PDP and joined MPN when it became obvious the his former boss, Governor Ayodele Fayose, had made up his mind to hijack the party’s governorship ticket for his deputy, Adebayo Eleka. An inside source who was at the government house in Ado Ekiti this evening confessed that the governor of the state, Chief Ayodele Fayose, and the imposed governorship aspirant of the PDP who is also the current deputy to Fayose, Professor Kolapo Eleka, and some top leaders of the party in the state were rudely shocked by how several thousands of people across the state went to identify with Aluko at the official declaration ceremony which took place at the Mega Party secretariat at Ajilosun road, Ado Ekiti.

The source said the governor openly and bitterly regretted that he ignorantly made someone who is as popular as Abiodun Aluko leave the PDP angrily as a result of cheer betrayal on his (Fayose) side. Our source, an officer of the PDP who pleaded to remain anonymous for fears of being reprimanded by the PDP loyalists, added that the governor who called Eleka on the phone after he was made to watch video clips of the declaration on Facebook asked for his views about the mammoth crowd at the colourful event. He pressed further that during the telephone conversation,

Fayose was later overheard telling his deputy to find a way of making the people of the Ekiti South place him above Aluko who he regretfully said had hijacked all the electorates in the zone and even beyond. It was gathered that during a brief meeting which he held with his loyalists after his telephone talk with his boss, Eleka lamented how his imposition by Fayose had soiled his integrity as an academia. Eleka, during the small and brief meeting also complained that the ill treatment that Fayose gave the Ikere Ekiti monarch which recently landed him in jail has made him (Eleka) lose his grip on the town and the entire Southern Zone as a result of the joint agreement of all the monarchs from Ekiti South to work against Fayose’s wish in the July, 2018 governorship poll.

The deputy governor was also quoted as saying that there is no way he can defeat Abiodun Aluko in any free and fair election if he eventually wins the Mega Party’s ticket. It was also gathered that some other aggrieved aspirants in the PDP have made it known to Fayose during a recent meeting with PDP national chairman, Uche Secondus, that they will remain in the party but still go out to canvass for supports for any candidate in the Mega Party or SDP if the governor goes ahead with the imposition of his deputy.
