Both boozers have also been ordered to pay Sky’s costs and fund their adverts in the local press.

The case was a precedent in Sky’s commitment to protecting pubs who do invest in legitimate Sky Sports subscriptions.

Cheers in Cambuslang were also hammered
Fox’s was also hit

A third Scots bar in Edinburgh and Linda Davidson of Fox’s, were also hit with the fine.

George Lawson, head of commercial piracy at Sky, believes the fines highlight the “seriousness of the situation”.

He told the Evening Times: “Through the orders to fund advertising, we hope to highlight the consequences of televising Sky’s content illegally.
