CHATHAM – The Ontario Liberal candidate for Chatham-Kent-Leamington will be community advocate Margaret Schleier Stahl.
“I’m honoured to join a team under the leadership of Premier Kathleen Wynne that is fighting for fairness and to ensure we continue to invest in care and opportunity for everyone,” Schleier Stahl, who was nominated Thursday, said in a press release. “I’ve been advocating for supports for residents in communities throughout the Windsor, Leamington, and Chatham-Kent areas for over 26 years.
“I will continue to advocate on your behalf for the investments that our residents need including free tuition for post-secondary students, a $15-an-hour minimum wage and free prescriptions for children and youth and soon for seniors.”
Schleier Stahl has worked for the Municipality of Chatham-Kent in various roles, and facilitates workshops for participants on Ontario Works Assistance.
She has an honours degree in social work, a bachelor’s of education, and a life skills coach’s certificate. The mother of a daughter and son has worked with the Chatham Kent Service Coordinators Networking Group, as a staff wellness committee member in the Municipality of Chatham Kent, and as a community assessment team member in Chatham Kent. She currently is a member of the Leamington Mennonite Home Gala Committee.
